The Ball Drops on "New Year's Eve"

December 15th, 2011

Jessica Biel

Turning up the heat to keep you warm this holiday season is the much-anticipated premier of "New Year's Eve", directed by Garry Marshall and including an all-star cast of Robert De Niro, Halle Barry, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Hillary Swank. This romantic comedy takes place in New York city on December 31st and revolves around a group of people whose lives intertwine, combining love, hope, reconciliations, etc. ...

The scenarios of this vast array of characters are so brief, short lived, and fast paced that it becomes a challenge for the viewer to keep up with so many situations. Although this film is lacking character development, a ray of talented light does shine through; there seems to be a natural chemistry between Michelle Pfeiffer and Zac Efron... whereas Michelle Pfeiffer quits her job and selects bike messenger Zac Efron to help her achieve her New Year's resolutions.

On the surface this movie seems to have too many plots and stars, however it does contain some sparkling moments of charm, humor, and ingenuity. With such a wide collection of male and female stars with their own unique personalities, this storyline does hold some surprises and redeemable qualities for all movie-goers to enjoy.

The dinner party immediately following the exclusive advanced screening of New Year's Eve was to benefit the Tribeca Film Institute and was held at the Hilton hotel. The ballroom at the Hilton was filled with talent that night: Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Chazz Palminteri, Mayor Bloomberg, etc. Garry Marshall was very reclusive and didn't talk to many people. He did make a small speech and said if he needed a actor, all he would have to do is have his sister Penny Marshall pick up the phone and they were there.

On hand on the red carpet at the Ziegfeld Theatre to promote this upcoming New Line Cinema movie were cast members Jake T. Austin, Jon Bon Jovi, and Sarah Jessica Parker with husband Matthew Broderick ..... Happy Holidays !!
