You've Come A Long Way Baby! The 46th Chicago International Film Festival
By Irene Michaels
June 20, 2010
Irene Michaels
Chicago was beaming as Ron Howard stepped on stage at the Museum of Science
and Industry to receive his Career Achievement award before a crowd of over 400 people. His gracious and humble style made the evening even more enjoyable and out of the ordinary.
Together Ron Howard and the Chicago Film Festival have come a long way from
their beginnings . Howard said "playing Opie on the "Andy Griffith Show" was a blessing and felt fortunate to be on a show that had so much impact in his future life".
Howard is now filming in Chicago and he loves the positive energy of our city. "The people are great here and everyone is so accommodating. They make my job so easy."
Some of Howard's work has included Splash, Parenthood, Back Draft, Apollo 13, the Da Vinci Code and A Beautiful Mind (for which he won an Oscar for Best Director).
The stars of Howard's new comedy are none other than Chicago's own Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly and her actor husband, Paul Bettany. Winona Ryder also came to support Howard and added a touch of glamour to the evening. As Vaughn walked down the red carpet, he was chanting "Go Hawks, Go Hawks. I love Chicago".
Congratulations to Michael Kutza for making this year's summer gala another hit.
Enjoy the photos from the event.
